Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit

The Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit offers businesses and tax-exempt organizations a tax credit of up to $40,000 for purchasing qualified commercial clean vehicles.

Alternative Fuel Heavy-Duty Vehicle Tax Credit

Utah offers a declining income tax credit through 2030 for businesses that purchase new, never-registered Class 7 or 8 heavy-duty trucks powered by natural gas, electricity, or hydrogen, as defined by state law.

SLC Economic Development Loan Fund

Salt Lake City’s EDLF offers business loans up to $350,000 with flexible terms and interest rate incentives to startups and local businesses tied to city priorities.

Grants & Funding Opportunities

There are a wide variety of funding sources available to support electrification efforts in Utah—including grants, tax incentives, and other financial programs from federal, state, and private entities. These opportunities can support everything from vehicle charging infrastructure to clean energy research, community programs, and business innovation.

Keep in mind: many grants are written with broad goals in mind. Even if a program doesn’t seem like a perfect match at first glance, a closer look might reveal how your project fits within its scope. Flexibility and creativity in how you align your goals with funding criteria can open more doors than you expect.

DOE Announces $22M Award to ASPIRE & Partners to ‘Supercharge’ Utah’s Status as Regional Electrification Hub

The Department of Energy announced $22 million in funding for ASPIRE’s $44 million SUPERCHARGE project, with an additional $15 million from industry and utilities, plus support from Utah and university partners. Led by Utah State University’s ASPIRE center, the project will develop Utah’s first dedicated charging station for medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) trucks. With advanced technology like a 1-Megawatt wireless charger and energy management tools, the site will support up to 9 MW of concurrent charging while minimizing grid impact. Leaders say the project will serve as a scalable model for nationwide MHD vehicle electrification.
