Fleet Electrification Incentives

Utah provides incentives and resources to help public agencies electrify their fleets and build the necessary charging infrastructure. These efforts support improved air quality and advance the state’s broader electrification goals.

Recent Electrification Awards Highlights

DOE Announces $22M Award to ASPIRE & Partners to ‘Supercharge’ Utah’s Status as Regional Electrification Hub

The Department of Energy announced $22 million in funding for ASPIRE’s $44 million SUPERCHARGE project, with an additional $15 million from industry and utilities, plus support from Utah and university partners. Led by Utah State University’s ASPIRE center, the project will develop Utah’s first dedicated charging station for medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) trucks. With advanced technology like a 1-Megawatt wireless charger and energy management tools, the site will support up to 9 MW of concurrent charging while minimizing grid impact. Leaders say the project will serve as a scalable model for nationwide MHD vehicle electrification.
